When we visit someplace new, we like to get out on foot to see what it has to offer. We seek out places because of the scenery, that’s why we rarely visit cities and much prefer the open spaces of the countryside. Here are some photos from some of the hiking we have done, mostly in Italy and some in the UK.

We recently heard someone that had spent some time in the countryside saying they were pleased to be back in civilisation when they arrived in a city. That sentiment is the precise opposite of our feelings. Cities feel to us like the most uncivilised places on Earth; too many people, too much noise, too much concrete, too little wildlife.
